On Politics & Palin

My mother is voting for McCain because she's scared of Obama's medical plans. My mother-in-law (a died in the wool liberal) is voting for McCain because he picked a female running mate and Obama "treated Hillary poorly." It's working. By picking Palin, McCain can pull over Hillary supporters who are mad at Obama for, well, winning.

What?

Now, I'm not a fan of Sarah Palin. I hate that she's billing herself as a "hockey mom."  I applaud that she tries to get to her kids' extracurricular activities, but really? She's running a state. I bet she's got a nanny. I worry that she wants to take on the possible role of President (McCain is pretty old) while she's got an infant with Down's syndrome. He deserves more of her time. I'm not saying she shouldn't work - just that being a president or even vice-president is MORE than a full-time job. It's pretty much 24/7. How fair is that to a Down's syndrome child, a scared and pregnant teenager, or just her normal everyday kids?

If Obama had a teenage daughter who was pregnant, the Republicans would just lay into Obama's parenting skills, decision making, family values, and so forth. But the Republicans look at Sarah Palin - who preaches ABSTINENCE by the way (that apparently works) - and say, look , she's just like everyone else!

I'm scared of Palin because she's amazingly likable. I'm scared because she's a Creationist. I'm scared science will disappear from our classrooms Roe v Wade will be overturned. I'm scared that when a woman is pregnant from a rape, or when a pregnancy will kill her, it will be illegal for her to get an abortion. I'm scared that this woman will set back women's rights.

I don't want a President or Vice President who is just like me. I want someone Presidential. Someone better than me who can easily cope with everything that happens. Who can make well-thought-out decisions and not snap judgments.

And I also want to know - why doesn't the mainstream media realize how much they contradict themselves? They're the ones who need to watch the Daily Show.
