Holding my Breath
My research over the last few weeks has led me to several web sites and books on getting things accomplished. I narrowed it down, as you know, to two theories - Getting Things Done and Franklin Covey PlanPlus.
Thanks to a book I've been reading and a couple of your comments, I think I'm going to sort of combine the two methods. Truthfully, I think I already am.
Okay, I've been using my PlanPlus system for one day. I really like
having my tasks shoved out in front of me in a weekly planner in
outlook. I also like having the master task list handy. Already today
I've knocked various things off my lists. Mostly B & C category
things, because the A category things are on client hold-up. I like the
freedom to deal with B & C whilst waiting on A.
I broke down and ordered the Getting Things Done book by David Allen. It should work relatively well with my Seize the Work Day with Your Tablet PC book, by Michael Linenberger, from which I'm learning so much already.
I
am determined to keep this up for a month, at which point, it should
have become a habit and the procrastination habit should be well on
its way to being broken. It takes 30 days for something to become a
habit - that's basic ISD theory.
Right now, of course, it's easy.
My big, less enjoyable tasks (projects) are looming on the horizon. I'm
scared of both the time they will take and my ability to get them done
well.
We'll see.

Thanks for your comment about my book Seize the Work Day. If you have not already, you should take a look at my latest book: Total Workday Control Using Microsoft Outlook. It takes chapters 6 and 7 of STWD, expands greatly on these, but does it all in vanilla Outlook (without PlanPlus). Uses a combination of GTD and FC, and some more. Good luck on your adventures!
